EP Review: Somewhere OST

The Somewhere Original Soundtrack was one of the earliest albums I ever purchased, and has since become one of my all time favorites. It was written by Disasterpeace for the short film “Somewhere” by Nicolas Menard. The film is just as emotionally powerful as the soundtrack, I strongly recommend you watch it.

The Soundtrack has always stuck out in my mind because of its uniqueness and strong sense of place. I’ve never found an album that I get so immersed in like this one, especially because the EP is only three and a half minutes long. I love the heavy focus on bass and lo-fi effect. There’s always been something about this album I’ve never been able to put into words. Like I’m wandering in some unfamiliar place. Alone… Lost… Somewhere…

I love the heavy beat, slow tempo, and overall laid back feel of the opening track “Somewhere”. It always reminds me of laying on the beach at night, listening to the waves, gazing at the stars. There is an interesting change in pace and mood in tack two. It’s a bit more uptempo and there’s more going on. The last track is only twenty-three seconds of record crackling, but it ends the album properly.

Overall It’s an excellent album and I’d recommend it to pretty much everyone, especially with such a low price.
